We work with a number of bodies who are actively involved in community archaeology, including the National Trust, and have developed close working relationships with a number of local archaeology and history groups and academic bodies.

As part of our wider training and outreach activities, we host a number of volunteers each year on both long- and short-term placements within our field and archive teams. Recent and current volunteers include graduates, prospective students and those still in secondary education. We provide structured placements for secondary school work experience students each academic year, through the Education Business Partnership.

We are fully insured and have a dedicated risk assessment for volunteers and trainees which follows the advice of the HSE on working with young people.
