Long Leys Road, Lincoln, Lincolnshire
The site has been earmarked for the new cemetery for the city of Lincoln, and a previous evaluation had shown that significant Roman remains were present. Allen Archaeology undertook the excavation of the 1 hectare site, revealing a high status complex of Roman buildings, including one structure with an apsidal end, and several corndriers. A large quantity of artefacts were also recovered, including a piece of a bronze bull statue that suggests the site may have specialised in cattle rearing.
